Introduction

RealWave is much more than a simple wave generator. It’s a complete dynamic simulation system, seamlessly integrated into RealFlow. While exploring RealWave, you will soon discover a plenty of interesting and sophisticated features. Compared to other commercial fluid packages RealWave’s versatility is unique. The arbitrary combination of waves, particles and dynamics provides this special kind of freedom, fluid artists need for their daily work. Various wave modifiers help us to create a variety of different waves and weather conditions. Cresting waves and stormy oceans are one of this issue’s main topics, but you will also learn how to use RealWave for underwater scenes and emerging objects.

Special particle emitters for RealWave can be used to create impressive splashes, spray clouds, and white caps. Simultaneously, the particles generate foam maps which can be used as masks for more complex and turbulent foam structures. Rigid body objects can contribute to these foam textures as well.

The interaction between waves and rigid bodies opens a whole new world, since RealFlow is capable of calculating an object’s underwater behaviour and buoyancy. Scenes with floating objects, moved by downstream forces, ships, travelling along the surface or collisions between particles and objects are easy to establish.

Another strong advantage of RealWave is speed. Even most complex waves, interferences and interactions of different wave modifiers are calculated within seconds.
